Job Summary:

A HVAC and plumbing engineer interested in working on a diverse collection of building configurations. Under general supervision, capable of performing all aspects of conventional design engineering, analysis, and studies on new and existing structures.

 Job Duties & Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch’s Global projects.  The Mechanical Engineer level 5 position is responsible for the engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities.

The HVAC Team is engaged in the following:

  • Design and Construction Activities
  • Project Delivery Methods - Traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid- Build.
  • Facility Types – Water Treatment, Power Generation buildings, and Substations.
  • Systems – HVAC and Plumbing.
  • Type of Areas – Waste water treatment buildings, Administrative, Warehouse,
  • Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical
  • Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, and Pump Areas.
  • Energy Audit/Efficiency - Engineering studies, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations
  • Code Review/Application - Facility review for code compliance
  • Sustainable Design/LEED - Application of sustainable strategies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and the following applicable design guides and standards related to HVAC, and plumbing system design.
  • International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes

  • ASPE design handbooks
  • SMACNA Standards
  • NFPA standards
  • Computer generated HVAC Heatloads, energy modeling and HVAC equipment sizing
  • Technical Submittal reviewing process Bid reviewing process
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • Revit 3D Modeling.
  • Experience with large-scale water-cooled chillers is preferred.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. 

 

This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $56.45/hour - $75.27/hour
