Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 0-1 years’ experience to join our Distribution team. The ideal candidate is familiar with Distribution System design concepts for small scale systems and distributed energy resources (DER, DG, et cetera) below 30kW.

Functions in an engineer capacity. Under close supervision, performs routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to prescribed techniques and procedures to complete project assignments.

Engineering Standards:

Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.

Quality/Continuous Improvement:

Develops an understanding and complies with the Black & Veatch quality program. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.

Engineering Production:

Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope. Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis. Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

Project Coordination:

Shares information with others as requested. Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.

Client Focus:

Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers. May provide support to business development or pursuit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops familiarity with departmental design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes.
  • Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Contributes to preparation of engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
  • Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods.
  • Coordinates with team members and leadership as directed.
  • Focuses on internal client needs while gaining understanding of external client drivers.

Required Qualifications

  • 0-1 years of experience in Distribution.
  • Understanding of basic Distribution System design concepts.
  • Ability to perform initial technical screens and review application packages for completeness.
  • Ability to assess transformer loading, service panel capacity, and basic voltage impacts.
  • Ability to validate single-line diagrams and ensure alignment with interconnection requirements.
  • Ability to independently develop written communication and facilitate coordination with team members.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Education/Certificates

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Prior experience with software products such as Microsoft Excel and SAP Work Management.

This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $24.91/hour - $33.21/hour

  • Shift timings: Monday thru Friday, 40 hours/week.
